We
travelled by car, due to the travel flexibility it offers
- the journey to Norway from Slovakia is about 1 400km long
and its almost all highway type. The we took a ferry from
Hirsthal (Denmark) to Kristiansand (Norway), it is 4 hours
and 15 minutes.
Norway is a country which is quite expensive for travelling
- especially fuel, food and accomodation, which are the most
important things for a traveller. If you want to stay on the
"budget line" consider camping and your own supplies
like we did. Campings are usually very good equipted and at
that time of the year not much crowded.
From the sightseeings I would mention: Preikestolen
in Lysefjord - the fjord overhanding cliff where
you can stand as a priest and the tell the world the "whole
truth". There is a track which takes about 1 hour and
45 mins, sometimes quite steepy; The Kjeasen farm
close to Eidfjord - was described as the most remote
place in Norway. There is a 1,8km tunnel leading to it, cut
into pure rock. Go via it back as a last one, stop, turn off
the headlights and enjoy... :-() Lovely view over the fjord
and a few sheep around...
Jostendalsbreen with
its glaciers is definitely a must see, but be aware of roaming
Japanese tourists - they frequently visit this place. Geiranger
fjord - one of the most picturesque fjors is beautiful. The
are two ways to get there: road and ferry. The road is closed
during the winter, so check the tourist information ahead.
The ferry offers 2 in 1 package: you get a ferry to Geiranger
and also the sightseening trip, which you would probably when
you get to there by the road. In general all the points which
are highlighted on the map are definitely worth seeing.
If you plan to see something different
during your summer holidays, then Norway is a recommended
destination.
